Childersburg is believed by many to be the oldest town in America. It started as the town of Coosa when Indians were the only residents of the area. Today Childersburg is located in Talladega County at a point that is near the geographical center of Alabama. It is 19 Miles Southwest of the city of Talladega and one mile from the Coosa River.
Childersburg is a dreamland for the water-sport lover. Numerous lakes and streams provide excellent fishing, boating and water skiing. A state boat launch is within the city limits. The Talladega National Forest, which is 15 minutes away, boasts hundreds of miles of creeks and streams with excellent wade and bank fishing. Canoeing is also a popular activity.
