


Located about 20 miles Northeast of Childersburg, Talladega is the home of the world's fastest, most competitive motor sports facility. Talladega Superspeedway.
It is the site of two major NASCAR events each year, and the home of numerous world records for speed on a closed course. The fastest 500 mile automobile race ever run anywhere in the world was run a Talladega in 1985.
The Winston 500 in May draws the largest sporting event crowd in Alabama every year.
Talladega is also the home of the international
Motor Sports Hall of Fame Museum located next to Talladega
Superspeedway. This modern facility is
to motor sports what Cooperstown is to baseball, and houses world
famous
vehicles and racing memorabilia valued
at more than $14 Million, and has a total of six different Halls
of Fame including
the Bluebird of Sir Malcolm Campbell,
Fireball Roberts, Bobby Allison, Marty Robbins and Bobby Isaac,
or ride in the Richard Petty race car simulator.
